Speaker: Dr. Angela Bernardini, coordinator of the Artificial intelligence and Data Analytics Area at NAITEC.
Angela was born in Milan (Italy). She completed her bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Sapienza University of Rome, before earning her PhD in applied mathematics at the University of Navarra (Spain) in 2005, working on the simulation of Hele-Shaw cells. She continued her scientific studies with two postdoctoral stays at the INRIA and the CNRS (France), developing a new discontinuous Galerkin method for wave phenomena. In 2008 she returned in Navarra and started working at CITEAN, solving complex engineering problems through soft computing techniques. At the same time, she was visiting professor at the UPNA in Department of mathematics and Computer Engineering. In 2012 she joins CEMITEC, the multidisciplinary centre of technologies for Industry, as research specialist in computational methods and data modelling. From 2018 she coordinates the Artificial intelligence and Data Analytics Area at NAITEC, where she develops computer vision and data-driven based solution for the industrial sector. She is assistant professor at the UPNA in the Department of Statistics, Informatics and Mathematics and member of the Artificial Intelligence and Approximate reasoning group (GIARA).
In this seminar we will talk about the relevance of data quality, focusing on its application to floating offshore wind energy, one of the most promising offshore technologies. Wave action greatly affects the performance of the turbine, increasing its LCOE (Levelized Cost Of Energy). We propose a model to investigate its behavior, which presents a prohibitive computational cost due to the huge amount of data to be processed,
